About Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. Coming from a modest family, he developed a deep interest in science and learning from an early age.

Through dedication, discipline, and perseverance, he became one of India’s most respected aerospace scientists. His contributions to India’s space and defence programmes earned him the popular title “Missile Man of India.”

In 2002, he became the 11th President of India, serving until 2007. Despite reaching the highest levels of public life, he remained known for his simplicity, humility, and close connection with students and young people.

Dr. Kalam passed away on 27 July 2015 while delivering a lecture to students in Shillong. His life continues to represent the power of education, hard work, dreams, and service to the nation.
